See first-hand how New Zealand must have been over 100 years ago. En route to Kapiti Island, pass through Kapiti Marine Reserve and watch for passing whales and dolphins. Lookout for the sea birds that frequent the coastal waters - gulls, gannets, penguins, terns, shags, shearwaters and albatross.
On this 5-day adventure, you'll travel by train, boat, tram, cable-car and plane! We enjoy a full day on Kapiti Island, explore the windy corridors of Wellington’s Te Papa and Parliament, and we'll visit some iconic and fascinating destinations in-between.

Sir Len Southward
Knighted in 1986 for his services to the community, Sir Len Southward has been associated with the New Zealand motor industry since 1919, when he started work as a message boy in a Wellington motor warehouse. He and a partner later set up their own motorcycle repair business.
In the 1950's he gained headlines throughout Australasia for his championship in his speedboat "Redhead". On the 22nd of February 1953 he powered "Redhead" across Wellington harbour to become the first man in Australasia to travel at over 100mph (160km/h) on water.
