Itinerary  |  9-15 May 2021
  • DAY 1. Dargaville

We start our tour with a drive up the country to Dargaville, arriving in time for a 2-3hr self drive scenic rail cart tour through to Tangowahine. We check into our motel for the night then head into town for dinner.

    Dinner.

  • DAY 2. Kai Iwi Lakes | Trounson Park | Hokianga

Our day begins with a visit to the lovely Kai Iwi Lakes and a walk through the Kauri’s at Trounson Park. This is the best Kauri viewing walk in N.Z. Continuing north through the Waipoua Forest we also view Tane Mahutu (if this is still allowed), the largest Kauri in N.Z. We spend tonight in the lovely Copthorne Hokianga. Dinner in house.

    Breakfast, Dinner.

  • DAY 3. Mangonui

This morning we venture through to the quaint seaside village of Rawene and catch the ferry across the Hokianga Harbour and on to Kaitaia. Here we enjoy lunch and a look around town before continuing through to Mangonui where we spend the next two nights. Tonight, we dine at the famous Mangonui Fish shop on the water.

    Breakfast, Dinner.

  • DAY 4. 90 Mile Beach | Cape Reinga

Prepare for a day of adventure as we travel to Awanui to catch the bus to 90 Mile Beach and Cape Reinga. This is a full day of fun and stunning scenery.

    Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

  • DAY 5. Kerikeri | Paihia | Russell

We travel back down the country to Kerikeri in the morning for a quick look around town before embarking on Paihia for lunch. Afterwards, we visit the Waitangi Meeting House then cross over to Russell on the ferry. Here, we take a tour around town before settling in our motel for the next two nights. Tonight we dine in the village.

    Breakfast, Dinner.

  • DAY 6. Bay of Islands

Today we jump aboard a cruise and discover the very best of the Bay of Islands. This includes humorous commentary from the skipper and a visit to the iconic Hole in the Rock. If we’re lucky, we’ll see dolphins and other wildlife and enjoy an island stopover for a BBQ lunch on the Department of Conservation’s Urupukapuka Island. You can choose to be dropped off in Paihia at the end of your cruise and make your way back on the ferry. Later, we visit the infamous Duke of Marlborough for a sumptuous dinner.

    Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

  • DAY 7. Homeward Bound

Sadly it’s time to hit the main highway and make our way back home. We stop at Helena Bay for morning tea then on to Warkworth for lunch.

    Breakfast.

Often overlooked by overseas tourists but a firm favourite for Kiwis on holiday, Northland is home to some of our most beautiful beaches, the cradle of European history in New Zealand and a playground for marine wildlife.

As you leave the Big Smoke, high-rises and flat pastures give way to the green rolling hills and stunning coastlines of the Winterless North.

No matter what direction you turn, you're never far from the coast or a photo-worthy spot."

Don’t take our word for it

"We have accompanied Liz on a number of tours in the past and speak very highly of her. Not only is she efficient and capable, but she has a great sense of humour and is lots of fun. We are greatly looking forward to our tour with her later in the year, and wish her every success."
